Walkshop is our old conventional photowalk redesigned to ensure effective end to end learning. Walkshop is structured with three sessions – Conceptual, Practical and Review. While the conceptual and review sessions are done online, Practical sessions are always offline. Walskhop is a project based approach and focused to create a body of work that can be added to your portfolio.
This course is designed to enhance your photography skills by exploring the concept of visual drama. Visual drama is the art of creating captivating and impactful images by using tools of classic and modern dramatics. In Conceptual Section we will sail through classic Aristotelian concepts of Drama and contemporary modern concepts to understand basic functions of Drama. We will also revise some of the elemental ideas of Photography; for example - visual elements and visual character. On Practical Day we will be on the field to experiment and apply them in Photography. In Review Section we will go through the images taken on the practical day and plan for future exhibition and publication.
What will you learn?
Drama is integral part of art. Whatever form of art you are practicing, control over drama always gives an extra mileage. Learn classic Aristotelian concepts of drama and explore how they are relevant and can be adapted in photographic practices.
You know characters are the life of Drama. Photography is no exception. We create visual characters and explore connections and visual dialogues between them. That's the key to the inherent motion playing inside an apparently sill photograph.
Visual approach defines the style and necessary elemental distribution to achieve desired impact. We will go through examples of six distinguished visual approaches prevalent in classic to contemporary photography styles.
Building elemental relation gives you control over creating the character and connections. Elements are the ingredients of visual character. You must know the seven elements of Photography to experiment with relations between them.
Composition itself is a very deep word to understand. It must be studied subjectively in consideration with time and place. We will dive deep into visual harmony and its evolution over time to get the idea of proper span of composition.
These two words are not very common in photography circle. But they surely should be. They are two main pillars of Photographic expression. Connotation is the inner communication and Discourse is the interpretation of that communication. Let's learn more!
